Pittwater is very fortunate to have retained a variety of bushland areas and remnant native vegetation on private land and roadsides.

We still have many native birds, marsupials, reptiles, insects and other fauna now lost from most of Sydney’s suburban areas.

Our landforms are diverse and beautiful, from rainforest gullies to steep boulder strewn slopes, rocky outcrops and escarpments.

Ocean beaches and dunes, spectacular heath and grassy headlands, wetlands, creeks, estuaries, woodland and tall forests. Pittwater has them all! …..

Beyond these natural treasures, we have a community that values our environment and speaks out in its defence. Join us, and help keep Pittwater a special place, for now and for future generations.

12.30 Talk: Paul Mahon: The NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan

We’ll learn what’s going on with fox control in Garigal and Ku-ring-gai National Parks and implications for our native wildlife.

Paul specialises in Carnivore Pests in the Pest Management Unit, NSW Dept of Environment and Climate Change. He is a PNHA member from North Avalon.

This plan was started in 2001, aiming to establish long-term control programmes in those areas of NSW where impacts on threatened and other native fauna are greatest. Under the plan, fox control has been established at more than 50 priority sites over almost 1 million ha of public and private land.
