February Saturday 27th
Insects and Other Invertebrates. 7-9pm Plateau Park, Bilgola Plateau.
Invertebrates – animals without backbones - are amazing, important and often overlooked. We could not survive without the services they provide in our environment.
Martyn Robinson, naturalist at the Australian Museum, will set up a light sheet to attract insects and tell us about the creatures we find. Bring your own invertebrates—insects, spiders etc to be identified.
Plateau Park is on Plateau Rd, near Bilgola Plateau Public School.
Bring: Mosquito repellent

Pittwater Ecopaddle. 9am- 3.30pm
Here’s a chance to explore Pittwater estuary’s natural environment.. We’ll learn about Pittwater’s geological history and soils, its beautiful endangered Spotted Gums and other types of bushland, its birds and marine life.
Our craft: Stable Drifter 2 kayaks with rudders and comfortable seats. Also provided: life vests and guidance for beginners on how to paddle. (HD 0500)
Bring: lunch, drinks, sun protection.
Cost: double kayak hire is $55 per person

Asparagus Fern Out Day, Mona Vale Headland. 8.30am – 3.00 pm. Help beat Pittwater’s worst weed. Morning tea and a splendid free lunch. Stunning coastal views.
Where: corner of Peal Place and Narrabeen Park Parade – parking on the street. Tools provided.
Wear: gloves, long trousers and sleeves, enclosed footwear.

April Saturday 10th
Weeds of Pittwater 12.30-4pm.
Learn to identify weeds, and see demonstrations of what to do about them in the garden and the bush. Afternoon Tea and notes provided.
Where: Angophora Room, Nelson Heather Centre, Jacksons Rd Warriewood for Theory/Indoor session, then field work at Ingleside Riders land on McLean St Ingleside.
Wear: gloves, long trousers and sleeves, and enclosed footwear.
Bring weed specimens you’d like identified.

Asparagus Fern Out Day, Plateau Park Bilgola Plateau. 8.30am to 3.00pm
The war against Pittwater’s worst weed continues and we’ve nearly won it here.
Help Plateau Park bushcare volunteers tackle Asparagus Fern in this reserve where the rare bushland type Duffys Forest Endangered Ecological Community occurs. The Waratah is a special plant here. Tools, morning tea and delicious lunch provided.
Wear: gloves, long trousers and sleeves, enclosed footwear.

Breakfast with the Birds at Warriewood Wetlands. 8 – 10.30am
A guided stroll to see flowering Swamp Mahoganies attract honeyeaters and several kinds of Lorikeets. Sydney Freshwater Wetlands are a rare habitat in Sydney.
Bring: Binoculars if possible. We can lend some binoculars on the morning.
Cost: Tea/coffee and cake $2.00

June Friday 25th-Sunday 27th
Bush Regeneration and Birdwatching weekend at Pittwater Youth Hostel, Morning Bay
Spend a weekend at the hostel (Friday and Saturday nights), in return for two mornings of bush regeneration.
Guests have exclusive use of the hostel and can enjoy:
- various talks and guided walks in Spotted Gum and other bushland, saltmarsh and mangroves, birdwatching, and use of hostel kayaks.
- free accommodation, kindly donated by a local resident and Pittwater Youth Hostel
- meals (two dinners and two lunches) donated by Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority. B Y O breakfasts.
NO DOGS PLEASE (NPWS regulations)
Costs: Return Ferry trip from Church Point to Halls Wharf: $12.50 Concession $6.80. Booking fee of $50: $25 will be refunded at the hostel, $25 is a contribution towards food costs.

Fourth Rocky Point Asparagus Out Field Day. 8.30am- 3pm.
A highlight of the bush regeneration year is to see 30-40 people eradicating Asparagus Fern! Join the local bushcare group for another Big Day Out in beautiful Spotted Gum forest, with a splendid lunch as the finale.
Bring: gloves, water to drink.
Wear: long trousers and sleeves, enclosed footwear.
